Why L’Étoile, from Locust Valley

The village next door, done in French.

Closer than the city, dressier than the bistro

A real French dinner six minutes from home: escargots, sole meunière, a Bourgogne by the glass. No need to drive an hour into Manhattan for it.

After Friends Academy or Piping Rock

Match days, parents’ nights, the dinners you do not want to rush. We open at five, and at four on Sunday, so an early table is always there.

Wine worth a call ahead

The list runs around two hundred bottles, French-led. If you have a particular Burgundy or Champagne in mind, call ahead and we will see what the cellar can do for the night.

Anniversaries, birthdays, milestones

Tell us when you book. We will set the table for the occasion, light the candle, and let the kitchen know there is something to mark.
